Uganda yet again, losses a music Legend!
What a loss!
A dark cloud has once again come over Uganda and the music industry in Central and East Africa. We woke to the sad news of the death of Nakintige Ssekibogo Moses also known as Mwozey Radio(1985-2018) who in recent years has built a legacy in the entertainment industry under Goodlyfe Crew which he joined in 2004.
Mwozey Radio (33) succumbed to brain injuries sustained in a bar brawl in Entebbe on 22 January, 2018. His death was announced this morning his promoter Balaam Barugarhara on his Facebook wall. Radio has been receiving treatment at Case clinic which later confirmed his death in a press statement.
Radio was part of a popular music duo with partner Douglas Mayanja a.k.a Weasel who first became popular as back up artistes for Joseph Mayanja a.k.a Jose Chameleon but later broke off to sing independently.
At the time of his death, different musicians had started flying in from around the world to visit him in hospital. These include PJ Powers from South Africa (who is already in Uganda), and Wiz Kid who was expected to land in the country tomorrow. Admired for his sensational voice, Radio was a victim of an attack at a bar in Entebbe barely two weeks ago. The altercation left him with serious head injuries that necessitated a brain surgery at Case Hospital in Kampala where he unfortunately died from.
It should be remembered that just recently, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni contributed over 30 million Shillings towards the treatment of the Music star, Radio Mwozey. Currently Radio’s body has been transferred to City Mortuary for a post mortem examination, before being taken to his Neverland home in Makindye for a vigil. On Friday, a Requiem Mass will be held at a yet-to-be-disclosed Catholic church for the fallen musician ahead of Saturday’s burial at Kagga in Nakawuka, Wakiso district at 4pm local time.
