Heavy Rains Render Parts of Accra in Floods

Many parts of Accra Ghana got flooded yesterday evening following many hours of heavy rains.

The rains, which started at about 8 p.m on Monday lasted for almost seven hours. It, however, receded at about 3 a.m on Tuesday.

Information gathered by WakeUP Africa indicates that the flood waters entered many homes and rooms. Similarly, the flood waters carried debris from the streets to people’s homes.

Some of the areas that were heavily affected by the floods included East Legon Hills, main Nanakrom Bridge, Haatso, Kaneshie, Kwabenya, Madina, Ablekuma, Dome, Adenta, Ofankor, Weija, Okponglo, Shiashie, and Old barrier.

Some social media users who got stranded as a result of the rains took to their social media platforms to share their experiences while showing photos of the floods in their areas.

Both private and commercial drivers who were caught up in the floods had to park their cars somewhere and run to safety.
