It seems that the political turfs between Senator Bukola Saraki and the current Buhari administration is not yet over. Even after gaining victory in the False Asset Declaration case over the Nigerian government, where the Supreme Court struck out his case and Saraki was once again free from the claims against him, yet it seems this government is not done with him yet. So many things happened after Saraki’s win at the courts.

Saraki, Yakubu Dogara, Rabiu Kwankwaso and many others defected and formed the rAPC party, where they stated their intentions to disassociate from the APC and what it had become recently, which is a far cry from the ideals and precepts upon which many of them migrated to the party for.

Then 3 days ago, Sahara Reporters reported that Senator Saraki met with President Buhari at the villa, in a meeting which was arranged by Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, Aminu Masari of Katsina State and Senator Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, who prevailed on the President to convince Saraki not to leave APC. Saraki who was expected to move to the PDP next week, has also had series of meetings with the Vice President, Adams Oshiomole and other APC stakeholders, as well as several PDP stakeholders, including Governor Wike, all in a bid to have Saraki who holds a large political following on their sides.

Unconfirmed details of Saraki’s meeting with President Buhari, is that Saraki was offered juicy gifts including an oil well by President Buhari in order to convince him to stay in APC, and that Saraki in return demanded a signed agreement which would be binding on both parties this time.

According to New Telegraph “Saraki wants a written agreement but they are not willing to give it”, the source told our reporter but asked not to be named because he has no clearance to speak. “Saraki believes that his group has passed through all these problems because there was no written agreement when the stakeholders started working together in 2015. Now there are about five governors again who are working with him and are ready to leave the party, but if the APC does not want them to go then they must put on paper what will happen after the election to avoid the mistake of the past”.

As the rumors of the juicy offers kept coming, Senator Bukola Saraki had to release a press statement, confirming that he had a meeting with President Buhari, but denied claims of any juicy offers. He also stated emphatically that his group was still reviewing their options, and would do what they believe is right for Nigeria and the Nigerian people at the end of the day, because the reconciliation is no longer about them, but about the Nigerian people.

However, in a swift development late yesterday, the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, suddenly invited Senator Saraki to appear before the office of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), in Abuja, over the robbery incident that took place in Offa in Kwara State in April of 2018.

We will update as the story unfolds
