Prof Kingsley Moghalu Attends Kofi Annan’s Burial In Ghana
Professor Kingsley Moghalu, Young Progressive Party (YPP)’s presidential candidate and former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, is currently in Ghana for the 3-day state funeral of the late former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who died in Geneva Switzerland.
Prof Moghalu, who developed a mentorship with the late UN boss during a 17 year service as a United Nations official, was invited by the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The presidential candidate previously delivered a fitting tribute during the 80th birthday of Kofi Annan on April 8, where he referred to Annan as ‘perhaps the most successful Secretary-General of the UN in its history’.
In 2006, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, appointed Moghalu a member of the high-level redesign panel on the United Nations Internal Justice System, the establishment of which was requested by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.
Working at the UN Headquarters in New York for six months in the first half of 2006, the redesign panel reviewed and completely overhauled the accountability, transparency and dispute resolution framework, that governs the global workforce of the United Nations. This special assignment was at the nominal rank of Under-Secretary-General.
Kofi Annan’s remains will be laid to rest on Thursday Sept 13th, 2018.
