Africa Fashion Week Day 1, The Glitz, The Glam & The Runway
The 2018 Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN), held over the weekend precisely Saturday and Sunday. The glitzy event, which has become a reputable platform to celebrate African fashion designers both in Nigeria and London, was replete with its usual pomp and glamour.
Doing its best to showcase the raw talent inherent in Nigerian, nay African designers, the AFWN, which is a brainchild of Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, is in its 5th year in Nigeria and in its 8th year in London.
The show kicked off with Business of Fashion Round Table with Uche Nnaji, Mimi Hassan, Abasiama Idaresit, Joshua Ogbimi and Bank of Industry. These fashion entrepreneurs talked and discussed way forward for the fashion industry, in order for it to survive and becoming a booming industry as is obtainable globally.
The AFWN, had amazing displays by many African designers from neighboring and far countries, as well as an exhibition room, which was filled with creative designs of the African fabrics in making various fashion pieces such as clothes, foot wears, bags, accessories, ties, lingerie etc.
And when the runway eventually started, designers such as Godwin Green Fashion Academy (Nigeria), Tiannah Fashion Academy (Nigeria), My Lady Designs (Nigeria), Arazu (Nigeria), Cocomanella, Fonis Fashion, Funke Flawless, TM Clothing (Namibia), Toyeenstyle (Nigeria), Habeebat (Nigeria), F&F Afro Fashion House (Cameroon), Zaris Fashion and Style Academy (Nigeria), Lilifey’s Fashion, Kemi Benjamin Creations, Poise Designs by Sheila, M’briel Fashion, Tikovah Clothing, Le Bonheur Couture (Nigeria), Maison De Rouge (Zimbabwe).
