Finally The National Assembly Resumes

After a long and overdue break, the Nigerian National Assembly finally resumed on Tuesday 9th October 2018. The National Assembly had been on break since July 24th, following the season of controversial party defections by both Senators and House of Reps members.

The NASS was scheduled to resume on September 25, but the resumption was postponed to October 9th, to accommodate all party primaries. However, the resumption day yesterday, witnessed a low turnout of Legislative members, as the resumption also falls on same day as the burial rites of former House of Reps member Ms Funke Adedoyin, who died few weeks ago.

But major changes could be noticed at the NASS quarters, as there has been a rejig in the security system. A lot of security men and unidentified security operatives were present at the Assembly Headquarters’ with strict instructions not to allow any unauthorized persons in the NASS premises’.

It is expected that all pending bills and issues of national interest such as, the approval of a supplementary budget to fund the 2018 budget and 2019 elections, to enable INEC commence preparations for the 2019 polls. And other key appointments for the EFCC, ICPC, Deputy CBN Governor and AMCON will be given urgent attention.
