“Ekiti State Government Has Not Dissolved Local Government Cuncils” EKSG Announces
There is nothing that mischief makers would not do to make a government look bad, that is exactly what is happening in Ekiti State at the moment, as a fake story was circulated stating that the governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi recently dissolved all Local Government Councils in the state.
However, the last time such an incident happened was in 2013, during the previous tenure of Fayemi, where he had to dissolve the state executive councils and ordered the commissioners and special advisers to hand over to their permanent secretaries.
Now that the same story has been revived and being recirculated again, the Ekiti State Government deemed it fit to publish a statement refuting it.
“The attention of Ekiti State Government has been drawn to a media report trending online purporting that the state government has dissolved all local government councils in the state, based on recent court ruling.
The misleading report is a mere fabrication and the general public is hereby urged to disregard it in its entirety as it does not represent the true position of things regarding local government councils in Ekiti State.
Government considers it necessary to state emphatically that it has not taken any such action. Members of the public would be duly communicated through appropriate channels on government’s decisions on the local government councils as well as other state matters”.
