#Nigeriadecides, Low Voter Turnout In Polling Units In Lagos
In several polling units in Lagos, voters turned out in scanty numbers, and this is despite the fact that the INEC officials arrived late to most units.
This was not the case with the February 23rd elections. Where Nigerians in their numbers waited patiently for INEC officials in the hot sun, determined to cast their votes and make it count.
The low turnout of voters may be a testament that many have seen the elections as a mere formality, considering that they now feel that their votes no longer count due to accusations of rigging among other factors.
“Nigerians have practically abandoned polling units in today’s election. They’ve come to the realization that “voting” is done at the Collation Centers NOT at the Polling Units …Sad day for Demon-Crazy!” Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and a presidential candidate of AAC party said.
In most units in Lagos, the voters cast their votes and head back to their houses, for fear of thuggery and other related vices.
