INEC Suspends Rivers State Elections Indefinitely As 3 Returning Officers In Rivers State Are Still Held Captive By The Nigerian Army

It is no longer news that INEC has suspended the governorship elections in Rivers State indefinitely.

The suspension was attributed to the violence and deaths that followed the entire presidential and now governorship elections in the state.

Watch video of Saturday’s election

Information available to WakeUpAfrica360.com is that the following *Prof. Okpako, Prof. Asagba (RO) of BONNY, Dr Sunday Edum(RO) of DEGEMA and the EO of DEGEMA, Mr Patrick Uzoka.*were detained by the army in front of INEC office on 10th March 2019.

Their detention was on the orders of the GOC: and they were held from Saturday till about 85pm on Sunday night, when we heard the news. Till now, we have not been able to establish if they have been released.

An eyewitness who spoke to WakeUpAfrica360.com said “This is worse than a reign of military government. Is rivers state the only state where security threat was envisaged? Why is here a free zone for military reign and disregard for our sons, who have attained heights as academia in various fields of study, just to satisfy the taste of a power-hungry dictator?”.

The interest and desperation of the powers-that-be from both APC & PDP to suppress Rivers people, especially during the last election has led to several deaths and now cancellation of the elections.
