Niger First Lady Emerges ‘Next Sardauna’
Good news is happening especially around the womenfolk in Nigeria, with the latest enthronement of the title of ‘Next Sardauna’ to the wife of Niger State Governor, Hajiya Amina Abubakar. The award will be conferred on her by the Senior Journalists under the umbrella of Northern Media Professionals.
The prestigious award is in recognition of her contributions towards women related issues, especially on issues relating to reproductive complications and cancer scourge in the state and northern Nigeria in general.
The Senior Journalists had begun the arduous task of searching for the next Sardauna, two months ago. According to them, they based their reason to the fact that most leaders from the northern part of the country pay more attention to themselves, rather than the region even though “they owe their positions and fortune to the magnanimity of the late Sardauna, Sir Ahmadu Bello”, 53 years after his passing.
In a statement which was made on behalf of the media professionals, Deputy President Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Malam Suleiman Uba Gaya, said it had become necessary to celebrate leaders who had distinguished themselves in the service of humanity just like the late Sardauna of Sokoto “we believe there must be someone whose virtues resemble those of the Sardauna, not necessarily in every material respect, but even if substantially so. We cannot know these Sardaunas unless we search for them”.
“Hajiya Amina Abubakar Bello fits the bill and her proven track record is there for all to see’’ he said
