Journalist & AIT Presenter Goes On Exile From Nigeria Over Threats Of Arrest
SaharaReporters has exclusively reported that Amaize, popularly called MrFixNigeria, a journalist and presenter of the popular @KakaakiSocial on African Independent Television (AIT), has fled Nigeria on exile. Reports say Amaize left Nigeria because of threats of arrest which were being meted out to him, Amaize discovered he was going to be arrested and framed for treason and incitement, by the current administration.
It will be recalled that the recent controversial closure of AIT & DAAR Communications by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), was as a result of tweets from Nigerians which was shown on @kakaakisocial, a program anchored by Amaize.
Director-General of NBC, Modibbo Kawu, who defended the action of the NBC, claimed AIT and Raypower, failed to abide by the broadcasting code. In a letter entitled, “Lack of Responsibility in use of content from social media,” which was addressed to the Group Managing Director of Daar Communications Group, the NBC described the Kakaaki social edition of May 22, 2019, as “treasonable rhetoric.”
Before Amaize joined AIT, he was a Special Adviser on Media Strategy to Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, while he was the Minister of State for Defense. Amaize also served as Research Assistant to a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu and was later a media aide to the presidential campaign of Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine.
