Senator Abbo Who Assaulted A Woman, Released On Bail After 24 Hours
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command who detained embattled Senator Elisha Abbo when he was invited for questioning following the assault scandal, released him after detaining him for 24 hours. Abbo will revisit the command this week for further questioning.
The PDP lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District was released on bail after meeting certain undisclosed conditions, while investigation into the assault allegations against him continued.
According to the FCT Police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, “He was released on bail, but he is expected to come to the Command from time to time because investigation is still ongoing. He would keep in touch with the investigators; so, it is not as if he is out of the woods. He was merely granted bail, the investigation has not been concluded.”
Police spokesman Manzah also said the outcome of the investigation would determine further actions that could be taken against Senator Abbo.
It would be recalled that a trending video, which showed (a nursing mother at a sex toy shop, while a police officer who was there did nothing), caused so much outrage that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, directed the Commissioner in charge of the FCT Police Command, Bala Ciroma, to investigate the incident. The IG also asked Ciroma to undertake a forensic investigation of the footage.
