Senate President Lawan, Announces That They Would Receive The Cabinet List This Week
Nigeria’s have been expecting the ministerial list and subsequent announcement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet members. All this could happen today, if the Senate President, Lawan is to be believed. As he announced that they would be receiving the list from the president.
If this happens then Buhari, who was re-elected four months ago, will now have people to work with. However, news filtering in is that the fates of former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode and former Minister of State for Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu are uncertain.
All ministers who served in Buhari’s first administration formally stepped down in May, after the swearing-in, and this has caused a slowdown in the running of the government machinery. And has in turn affected major decisions according to investors, contractors and diplomats.
Ibrahim Lawan said during the week at the upper house parliament, “The executive arm is working hard to get the list to the senate. I can imagine that before this week runs out, we could get the list”.
Senators had wanted to screen and confirm the cabinet before they go on leave this July. However, as at press time, WakeUpAfrica360 was not able to confirm if the senate has gotten the ministerial list or not.
