Former CBN Governor Charles Soludo Makes Buhari’s New Economic Team
President Muhammadu Buhari has taken what many consider as a swift move in a bid to revamp the economy, when he dissolved the former Economic Management Team (EMT) and instituted a new Economic Advisory Council.
He also stated through his spokesman Femi Adesina, that this new team will report directly to him, unlike the previous EMT, which reported directly to the Vice President Osinbajo.
Interestingly, former CBN governor Mr Charles Soludo made the list in the new economic team.
The council is made up of the following:
Prof. Doyin Salami – Chairman
Dr. Mohammed Sagagi – Vice-Chairman
Prof. Ode Ojowu – Member
Dr. Shehu Yahaya – Member
Dr. Iyabo Masha – Member
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – Member
Mr. Bismark Rewane – Member
Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu – Secretary (Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy).
The new Economic Advisory Council (EAC) will advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues. They are also expected to work with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.
The EAC will have monthly technical sessions and quarterly meetings with the President. But there could also be unscheduled meetings if necessary.
