Bravo! NAF & Ground Troops Attacked And Killed ISWAP-Boko Haram Fighters In Northern Borno

Information reaching the media through PRNigeria is that Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Jets, and their Ground Troops have sacked some ISWAP-Boko Haram Fighters, who are located at Mallam Fatori, a village on the fringes of Lake Chad in the northern part of Borno State, but had been coveted as an Islamic State of West Africa Province by the ISWAP fighters. The (ISWAP) fighters are said to have suffered losses in a joint counter offensive operation, which was mounted by the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and troops of 89 and 97 Task Force Battalions of Sector 3, at Mallam Fatori.

The terrorists were routed on Thursday 14th November 2019, based on intelligence reports that they received about the movement of the ISWAP fighters who were kept in some gun trucks and were headed towards the troops’ location in Malam Fatori. The ATF immediately responded by scrambling 2 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircrafts, so as to provide Close Air Support (CAS), as well as an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, which provided enough enhanced situational awareness for the ground troops as they fought the terrorists.

The combined sustained, intensive fire air and ground strikes from the troops to the terrorists, caused them to retreat hastily, and at least two of the terrorists’ guwn trucks were destroyed.

The attack platforms also tracked the fleeing terrorists, further immobilizing 2 additional gun trucks and neutralizing a few of the fighters as they attempted to escape. Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, informed the media that the NAF, operating in concert with surface forces would sustain its efforts, in order to completely destroy all remnants of the terrorists in the Northeast.
