Love and life 11
When I got back Mawuli was also leaving. Do you also have an early meeting tomorrow?I asked and he laughed shaking his head. I walked him out as well. These guys were turning me into an usher! I asked Mawuli how his wife and son were doing and he told me they were in Australia visiting his wifes family. I just felt bored at my place alone thats why I came bowling. He said. He took out his car keys and I signaled for him to stop. Let me guess your car.I said and stepped onto the parking lot. I looked at all the cars with my hand on my chin.
Its either this one or that one.I said pointing to two cars. His mouth fell open. Yea, its that car. How did you know?He asked. I did a little bow and said with a French accent. Because I am amazing like that.He giggled and walked to his car. Indeed you are. Its really good to see you.He said. I nodded. You know how I guessed your car right?I saw the sign on the key holder and there are just two Benzs here.I confessed. He laughed out so loud I just had to join in. You smart, sneaky, cheat!he said, still laughing. I told Mawuli how lovely his car was and how I always wanted to have one.
I could tell his job in Australia was good. Do you want to drive it?He asked. I wasnt sure what to say. Come on, dont turn me down.He said and got out of the car. I giggled and took the keys. I sparked the car and it sounded just as I imagined. Thats right!Mawuli teased. He got into the car and we went for a ride. I drove a few blocks and was about to take the next U-turn when I spotted Steves car parked on the side. I smiled and parked behind him. Ill be right back. You can switch back now. Ive enjoyed my ride.I said.
Then I saw her. The girl who was in Steves car. She was crossing the street to the other side of the car park, where Steve parked. I hopped out of the car immediately. Are you ok?Mawuli asked as I stared at her. He turned around and saw her. Ive got to check something out.I said and rushed off after her. I saw her enter the back seat of the car. There was no one in the drivers seat so I bet Steve was there too. My arms started shaking as I walked to the car. The trees made it really hard to see what was happening in the backseat!
Luckily for me a car was just leaving and flashed its lights through and I saw them kissing. Steves eyes opened and he saw me. Tears rolled down my face as I turned around and run off. I heard the car door open and Steve calling my name. Fiona, Fiona! My heart was beating so hard I almost couldnt hear him. I heard the girl say, Steve, she wont understand!Wow this was like a dream. Just when I got the entrance, I saw Mawuli in his car leaving. He stopped and got out. Fiona, my goodness! Are you crying? He asked. I shook my head even though there were tears all over my face. Take me away from here.I said and sat in his car.
As we drove off my phone was ringing. It was Steve. I looked at my phone on my lap and ignored it. I was just gazing out the window. How come I never saw this coming? Then I noticed Mawuli was talking. If you dont want to talk about it thats fine but you need to give me directions to your place. He said. I turned to look at him. Would it be ok if I hang out at your place for a while? Will go to Samias apartment later.I finally said. Mawuli turned to look at me sharply. Of course, sure.He replied. I could tell he didnt see that coming. Well neither did I.
I honestly didnt feel like talking. We both never said anything till we got to his place. His apartment was nice but far from my concentration. Steve was still calling. I put my phone on mute and sat down on the sofa. Mawuli turned on the TV and air-condition and walked to the kitchen. He came back with a bottle of water and a glass. Ermm would you like something to eat?He asked handing the water over to me. I shook my head and took the water. I put it on the table and stared at it. I was thinking about the girl I saw in Steves car. What did she have that I didnt have? She was slimmer than me. Maybe that was it. Am I fat?I asked. Mawuli was changing the channel on his TV. What?He asked. I sat up straight and asked the same thing again. No, but why do you ask?He said, looking at me funny. I turned away and he just sat there quietly.

After 10 minutes of changing channels and looking at me occasionally, Mawuli turned off the TV. He walked to the corner of the living room and pulled out his slick phone and connected to some speakers. He selected a song and came to stand in front of me. I recognized the song immediately. It was old! I smiled weakly and watched him dance. He was doing the popular dance of that time. Forgive me oh but my bones are not as young as they used to be.Mawuli said laughing and dancing at the same time. I laughed out loud and shook my head. You are doing it all wrong!I said, standing up. He kept dancing in the silliest of ways. Its like this.I said and did a few moves. Wow, apparently your bones havent aged.He said clapping for me. He moved closer and stood next to me, imitating the dance. I laughed and showed him how it was really done!
