#ENDSARS Protest Is A Lesson To All Says Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi
On Tuesday November 3, 2020, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi described the #ENDSARS protest that happened in the country as a lesson to the Federal and State Governments. Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi charged the President, Muhammadu Buhari and the state Governors to come up with ideas on how best to bring the government closer to the people. The Ooni of Ife made this known while speaking at the emergency meeting of the National Council of Traditional Rulers in Nigeria. According to him, “It is very important for that gap to be bridged so that issues, experienced in Nigeria recently will not reoccur. It is a lesson for everyone of us and we must all work together to better the lots of the youths in this country.”
Furthermore, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha cane out also to sympathize with the monarchs, businesses and individuals who lost properties due to the looting that took place in the country. The Secretary in his statement disclosed that the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s administration awaits their recommendations as to be included in the measures put in place by the government. He also made known the fact that the closeness of the monarchs to their people will help them share ideas that reflect the desires of Nigerians. According to him, “I urge you to include as part of your agenda for this meeting, discussions on the various challenges facing our nation and in particular, generate ideas and solutions to the consequences and lessons from the recent protests by the Nigerian youths.” The meeting which was scheduled in Abuja, the Federal Capital was attended by the Chairmen of 36 States Traditional Councils of Chiefs including the Federal Capital Territory. On other news making the rounds at this hour, a Nigerian-born Democrat, Oye Owolewa will be elected as a shadow United States Representative for the District of Columbia.
This development was made known by ABC 7 News through their Twitter Account on Wednesday. According to the tweet, it reads as follows: “Democrat Oye Owolewa will be elected as a Shadow U.S Representative out of the District of Columbia.” The results shows that Owolewa scored 164,026 votes representing 82.84% of the total votes cast.
